City of Angels · Jasmine Benjamin

About

City of Angels is a bold 160-page portrait of Los Angeles street style, captured through the lens of photographer and stylist Jasmine Benjamin.

The book

Featuring over 120 subjects, mostly L.A. natives, the book spotlights the real faces shaping the city’s cultural identity, far from Hollywood stereotypes.

Equal parts fashion document and cultural time capsule, City of Angels is a raw, intimate tribute to the soul of modern L.A.

As Jeffrey Deitch puts it, “Jasmine Benjamin has drawn on her experience as a stylist for leading musicians to identify the diverse group of individuals who are defining the new LA style. She has gone to neighborhoods all over Los Angeles to interview and photograph these style innovators in their own clothes where they work and live. Many of these people are not just style innovators, but the influential talents who are also creating the new Los Angeles culture in art, music, fashion, and community activism.”
